Volunteers Needed - ARC "Sound the Alarm" Day in McKinleyville

Help us Sound the Alarm about Fire Safety - Volunteer with the American Red Cross

Saturday, February 23rd
9am - 3pm
McKinleyville, CA

Every day, 7 people die and another 36 people suffer injuries because of home fires. You can help change that and prevent these tragedies. The American Red Cross is seeking volunteers to save lives by installing free smoke alarms and educating community members about fire prevention and safety. Volunteers work in teams, visiting residences to provide these life-saving tools. This effort is part of our "Sound the Alarm" program, aimed at reducing fire-related deaths and injuries in the local community. Please meet at the McKinleyville Red Cross Office (3101 Concorde Dr., McKinleyville, CA 95519) at 9:00am for breakfast & training.

The following roles are available:

  • Smoke Alarm Installer – Conduct home visits, test existing smoke alarms, replace batteries, and install smoke alarms using a drill.
  • Disaster Safety Educator – Provide live-saving education and assist residents in completing a home fire escape plan.
  • Documenter – Complete service acknowledgment forms and reports for campaign tracking, and assist educator and installer as needed.
